We are offering free support that could help you become more confident with numbers for work or everyday life. The support is available to all Northamptonshire residents who are at least 19 years old and is designed to help with a range of life skills challenges with numbers, including sessions to help people increase confidence, or to help with managing their bills, budgeting or just wanting to improve their potential at work. All sessions are short and flexible.

The kind of areas we cover are:

  • Understanding what a budget is and managing your money
  • Maths for Shoppers (Store points, 2 for 1, Price per 100g, Money off the original price and % discounts etc.)
  • Understanding payslips, utilities bills, credit/debit, banking etc
  • Bag a bargain – introduction to shopping/discounts/comparison sites
  • Numbers in the workplace (as discussed with employers)

How do you get involved?:

  • We are holding regular introductory sessions at various locations (book below).
  • These introductory sessions are normally a couple of hours and we will go through what we do and answer your questions.
  • We then agree a date and time with you (in a group) for a follow up session to look at some free budget apps, help you with putting together a budget and understanding the shopping offers, all whilst having some tea or coffee. This is normally for a morning or an afternoon
  • At the end of this session we give you a £25 shopping voucher. (redeemable at major supermarkets)
  • We’ll also have a chat about how the support has been and see if there is anything else we can help you with understanding (bills, payslips, banking etc.)

Boosting your skills and ability to understand numbers in everyday life can give you greater confidence in both your work and home life. Being comfortable around numbers and increasing your numeracy skills may also unlock job opportunities and lead to higher wages or prepare you for further study.

What is Multiply?

Multiply is an adult numeracy programme funded by the UK Government. Tailored for adults over 19, it aims to improve adult numeracy skills, confidence with numbers and career prospects.It’s designed to help people looking to boost their career, support family learning, get new qualifications or better manage their finances.


How does Multiply work?

Multiply initiatives are offered by various providers including colleges, charities, employers and community organisations.Multiply offers free courses that fit around people’s lives, with courses ranging from a few hours to several weeks.There is flexibility in delivery, format, and qualifications ranging from maths-based baking to traditional classroom learning.

Courses can be for those who don’t have level 2 qualifications like GCSEs, or for those who think it can help their career progression to go back into learning. The classes are taught by supportive tutors who are invested in learners' growth and confidence.Whatever the individual’s motivation and preferred learning style, there will be a course for them.
