Kickstart Scheme (Employers)

Government Kickstart Scheme

The Department for Work and Pensions has launched a new programme to support young people to gain valuable experience and become more employable without any cost to the employer.

Learning and Skills Academy CIC is a recognised Kickstart Gateway supporting employers to hire and train young people through the programme.

A group of young people are standing next to each other and talking.

As an employer, you can access:

100% funding for a role of 25 hours per week on minimum wage for six months
100% NI contributions
100% Pension contributions
Up to £1,500 per 16-24-year-old hired through the scheme to cover onboarding, uniform and training costs

The scheme will fund positions that can be supported for six months with no obligation to increase the placement above 25 hours per week or offer employment after the placement. This programme is designed to build young people’s experience and leave them with practical skills and experience for future employment opportunities.

If your business could benefit from an extra pair of hands and you meet the following criteria, please complete the Registration Form form below and a member of the team will be in touch.

Organisations must meet the following criteria.

  • Cannot replace existing or planned vacancies
  • Must not cause existing employees, apprentices or contractors to lose or reduce their employment
  • The young people will come recommended from the Jobcentre, and you will still choose whom you hire

Can I hire less than 30 people?

Yes! Learning and Skills Academy CIC is a recognised gateway on the Kickstart Programme. We represent employers who will not employ more than 30 people through this scheme. We will support you whether you want to hire one young person or many.
